As in previous years, SOCIEMAT joined other FEMS - Federation of European Materials Societies Member Societies to celebrate the World Materials Day. The main event was held at CaminosUPM Universidad Politécnica de Madrid on the 6 November. Members of SOCIEMAT have also organized events in Seville, Santiago de Compostela, Toledo and Ciudad Real.

Prof. Gloria Rodriguez, Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha presented the FECYT Project "MATERLAND" an innovative dissemination project that aims to deliver Materials Science to all the society, specially to the young.

SOCIEMAT Grup CaixaEnginyers – Grupo CajaIngenieros Best Thesis Degree Award in Materials Engineering: Noa Álvarez, Universidade de Vigo

SOCIEMAT Master Thesis Award: Marta Zarzuela Amor Master in Advanced Materials, Nanotechnology and Photonics, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid for "Combining luminescent halide perovskite nanocrystals with plasmonic nanoparticles". Marta will represent SOCIEMAT in the next FEMS Master Thesis Award final at FEMS EUROMAT 2025, Granada.

Finally, MIKEL GARITANO received the Young Innovator in Materials Science Award (Best Master's Thesis with Industrial Application) from SOCIEMAT and MATERPLAT - Plataforma Tecnológica Española de Materiales Avanzados y Nanomateriales for his job "Development of DLC-based Barrier Coatings for Hydrogen Storageand Transportation".

Following this initiative, several acts has been also organised in other institutions such us the workshop in the University of Santiago de Compostela and the acts organised by the University of Castilla-La Mancha in Ciudad Real and Toledo and finally the one held by the University of Sevilla.
