A competition is organized each year, with prizes; the regulations and application forms are available on the SPM website.

In 2019 the FEMS-Federation of the European Materials Societies, of which SPM is a member, will award the second FEMS award to the best master thesis in Europe.

Whoever obtains the SPM 2018 Prize will present his thesis at the EUROMAT 2019 conference, and the respective travel and stay will be financed by the SPM Prize.

The Departments are invited to select the best theses (final versions after submission to tests and approval by a jury of masters), indicating which Prize they compete and send them, under the conditions defined by the regulations, to dmmateriais2018@fe.up.pt, until October 22, 2018.
