Prof Joanna Wojewoda-Budka

Joanna Wojewoda-Budka graduated from Jagiellonian University, Department of Chemistry in 2002 in Krakow. She obtained her PhD degree in Materials Science by the Institute of Metallurgy and Materials Science Polish Academy of Sciences in 2007, where she developed her scientific activity becoming Assistant Professor in 2007 and Professor of the institute in 2014. She is the leader of the Multilayer Department group from 2021. Since 2019 she is a Director of the Institute.

Her scientific activities were dedicated to interaction of selected cells with resorbable biomaterials, the diffusion phenomena at the interconnections dedicated to electronics, the metal-ceramic composites with interpenetrating networks formed due to the metal-oxide high temperature reactivity, joining technologies such as diffusion soldering, explosive welding, as well as new coatings materials.

She is co-author of about 90 journal articles (>75 indexed in ISI) and several book chapters, she contributed to numerous scientific conferences, belonging to the organization committees of Euromat panels, 10th High Temperature Capillarity HTC2022, IXth edition of the Diffusion Fundamentals conference, XVIII International Conference on Electron Microscopy EM2024, and others. She has a strong links with industry as a researcher and principal investigator of about 30 national and international research projects.

Joanna Wojewoda-Budka is General Secretary of the Polish Society for Materials Science 2021-2024, Member of the Committee on Materials Engineering and Metallurgy of the Polish Academy of Sciences and a member of international scientific committee of High Temperature Capillarity conferences series.

She was awarded by NATO scholarship, 'Start' Scholarship for Young Scientists of the Foundation for Polish Science, Scientific scholarship from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education for outstanding young scientists. The President of Poland awarded her with the Silver Cross of Merit for scientific activity in the development of science in 2017 and Knight's Cross of Polonia Restituta Order for all the scientific achievements in 2023.
