Society profile

The German Society for Materials Science / Deutsche Gesellschaft für Materialkunde e. V. (DGM), founded in 1919, is the largest scientific and technical society in the field of materials science and engineering in Germany and one of the founding members of the Federation of European Materials Societies - FEMS.
The DGM represents the interests of its members and ensures continuous development in terms of content, structure, and personnel in the field of materials science and engineering.
In addition, individual members, companies, and universities are also part of the DGM.
The DGM organizes annually more than 40 training courses with over 600 participants. More than 2,300 people attend the annual DGM conferences and more than 2,500 experts actively participate in 70 technical and working committees of the DGM. The DGM thus contributes to the transfer of knowledge, the continuous exchange, and networking in the field of materials science and technology. DGM-Inventum GmbH is a subsidiary of the German Society for Materials Science (DGM). With more than 10 years of experience, it offers support in the organization, planning, and implementation of conferences, workshops, training, and congresses.
