Overview:
The 5th Symposium on Materials and Additive Manufacturing – Additive 2026 will take place in Kassel, Germany, from 24 to 26 March 2026 as a hybrid event. Organized by the German Society for Materials Science (DGM), the symposium focuses on current developments in metallic additive manufacturing. It addresses the full spectrum from fundamental research to industrial application and highlights the technological potential of layer-wise production for customized components with complex design and functionality.
The scientific program covers alloy development for additive manufacturing, process innovations such as beam shaping, advanced characterization and fatigue behavior, graded and multi-material approaches, powder development, post treatments, and simulation-based optimization of processes and materials. Further topics include quality assurance, reproducibility, repair and refurbishment strategies, and the sustainability of additively manufactured products. The symposium provides a platform for discussion, exchange of expertise, and networking across research and industry.
