The Federation of European Materials Societies (FEMS) and the European Materials Research Society (E-MRS), two of the most prominent materials science organizations in Europe, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on joint activities.
As an initial step, the MoU outlines the organization of joint FEMS-E-MRS symposia within the framework of E-MRS meetings and EUROMAT conferences. Additional joint initiatives are expected to follow, with the potential to significantly influence the landscape of materials science both in Europe and worldwide.
A strong FEMS/E-MRS collaboration will enhance the influence of the European materials science community. Increased cooperation between the two organizations is also expected to lead to more effective coordination of outreach, education, and training activities. The strategic alignment of FEMS and E-MRS will boost the visibility, coherence, and overall impact of European materials science on the global stage.
Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini, FEMS President, said:
“I am delighted that we could work together with the E-MRS leadership over the past year to reach this positive outcome: the first MoU signed by the two organizations. I am convinced that this joint effort will strengthen our field of materials science and engineering in areas such as research, education, and policy. Having a strong and unified voice for materials will also enhance Europe’s position in the global materials science arena.”
