Partnerships
European Society of Biomaterials
The Federation of European Materials Societies (FEMS) and the European Society for Biomaterials (ESB) have formalized their collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This agreement marks an important step towards fostering synergies between the two societies, encouraging cross-disciplinary research, and promoting joint activities that benefit their respective communities.
The MoU establishes a framework for cooperation, which includes:
- Promoting the cross-disciplinary use of biomaterials research in both Societies
- Coordinating conference schedules to avoid overlaps
- Organizing joint events, including dedicated sessions at each other’s conferences and webinars
- Facilitating the exchange of announcements and newsletters between the two organizations
E-MRS | European Materials Research Society
The purpose of this MoU signed between FEMS and e-MRS is to express the understanding of the parties to strengthen and promote the international collaboration between both societies based upon the principles of equality, reciprocity, mutual respect, best practice, and frequent interactions.
It aims to encourage new international collaboration in the materials research field, and both parties will alternate in leading the organization of joint symposia (to be labelled the ‘e-MRS-FEMS Joint Symposium’). The symposia will be held annually at FEMS EUROMAT conferences (odd years) and at the e-MRS Spring meetings (even years).
TMS | The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society
FEMS and The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS) have formalized their collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This agreement establishes a framework to strengthen international cooperation between the two societies, with a particular emphasis on supporting early-career researchers and fostering transatlantic engagement in materials science and engineering.
The MoU outlines several areas of collaboration, including:
-
Establishing the joint Early Career Leaders International Scholar Programme
-
Supporting the participation of selected early-career researchers in the TMS Annual Meeting and the FEMS EUROMAT Conference
-
Facilitating visits to research laboratories, industrial facilities, or universities in the host country
-
Encouraging broader scientific exchange and shared initiatives that benefit both communities
Through this partnership, FEMS and TMS aim to promote mobility, enhance professional development opportunities, and strengthen cooperation between the European and American materials science communities.
