The European Advanced Materials Initiative (IAM-I) has joined 85 other European associations in co-signing a Joint Declaration coordinated by EARTO and BusinessEurope, calling for an ambitious and well-funded Tenth Framework Programme (FP10) for research and innovation.
The declaration urges the European Institutions to:
- allocate a substantially increased FP10 budget for the 2028–2034 Multiannual Financial Framework;
- reinforce collaborative, industry-driven research and innovation through a strengthened Pillar II;
- ensure that FP10, together with the European Competitiveness Fund, supports the entire research and innovation pathway, from fundamental research to industrial deployment and scale-up.
As an Associate Member of IAM-I, FEMS welcomes this joint initiative, which highlights the strategic importance of sustained investment in research and innovation for strengthening Europe’s competitiveness and supporting the advanced materials ecosystem.
The declaration represents a strong collective message from Europe’s research and innovation community as discussions on the next EU budget and FP10 continue.
