Joana studied Economics at the University of Aveiro in 2008. After 8 years working in industrial production management, she transitioned to a professional career in event organization, where she has since developed extensive experience in organizing national and international events, conferences, congresses, and workshops.
Since March 2018, Joana has served as the Digital Media Manager at SPM - Portuguese Materials Society, where she is responsible for editing and managing the social media accounts of SPM, including facebook, X (twitter), Instagram, LinkedIn, and the SPM website. Her work ensures that SPM maintains a strong and consistent online presence, promoting its activities across multiple platforms.
Joana’s recent roles include being part of the organizing committee for FEMS Junior EUROMAT 2022 and providing administrative support for the XI International Symposium on Materials. She has also organized key events such as the Additive Manufacturing Workshop at the University of Aveiro in 2018 and the CICMT 2018 conference.
Additionally, Joana has been a member of the editorial board of Ciência & Tecnologia dos Materiais since July 2019 and remains deeply committed to promoting materials science and related activities across various platforms.
She looks forward to taking on the role of Web & Social Media Executive, further promoting FEMS activities, and collaborating with the FEMS Executive Committee and Member Societies.
