FEMS Announces 2025 Award Recipients

The Federation of European Materials Societies (FEMS) is pleased to announce the recipients of the FEMS Awards 2025, recognizing outstanding contributions to materials science and engineering:

Materials Gold MedalProf. Mario Ferreira (SPM)
Awarded for his significant impact on the advancement of materials science through research, innovation, and leadership.

Materials Innovation MedalProf. Sergio Amancio (ASMET)
Recognized for his pioneering work in materials innovation, bridging the gap between research and industrial applications.

Materials Science & Technology PrizeDr. Sarah Fischer (DGM)
Honored as an outstanding young researcher for her groundbreaking contributions to materials science and technology.

The awards will be officially presented during FEMS EUROMAT 2025, taking place from 14–18 September 2025 in Granada, Spain.

Reflecting on the achievements of this year’s awardees, Prof. Anna Zervaki, Chair of the FEMS Awards Selection Committee, shared the following quote:
