Congratulations to the 2023 FEMS Awards winners

 

On 29 March Dr Kate Thornton CEng CSci FIMMM gave her Presidential Address highlighting priorities for presidency during her term in office (2023–2024).

Speaking during the Presidential Address, Kate said, 'It is a great honour and privilege to become the President of IOM3. I have had the great fortune to have worked with several past presidents during nearly 15 years of volunteering and I hope to continue the amazing work that they have started. I would like to thank our immediate Past President Neil Glover who has done a brilliant job'.

Dr Kate Thornton CEng CSci FIMMM has taken over as President of IOM3 as of 1 January 2023. Kate will give her Inauguration Address on 29 March highlighting her priorities for presidency during her term in office (2023–2024).

Kate is Lead Research Scientist at Croda where she has been for 12 years, responsible for new product development. Kate studied Engineering in Biomedical Material Science with Industrial Experience, adding a PhD in Biomaterials from the University of Manchester.

IOM3 saw a last minute rush on the call for papers deadline which passed 16 December 2022. In total the organising committee accepted 80 oral papers, these included the plenary sessions, committee-invited papers and sponsors’ papers. A further 64 poster papers were also accepted.

FEMS EUROMAT is the premier international congress in the field of materials science and technology in Europe. This conference will continue a successful series of material science conferences.
