The Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining (IOM3) launches new visual identity & website

IOM3 has launched its new logo, visual identity and website, devised to reinforce core values of being forward looking, dynamic, mindful, environmentally conscious, innovative and global.

IOM3 wanted a new visual identity that was strong, simple & striking, embodying the forward looking nature of IOM3 but also using different shapes to represent our history, the mergers of diverse bodies, and the eclectic mix of people and ideas, which have come together to form the Institute.

Joint winners awarded FEMS Communication Award for Excellence in MSE

On 15 July 2020, the 3rd FEMS Communication Award for Excellence in Materials Science and Engineering took place virtually for the first time due to COVID-19. The FEMS Communication Award for Excellence in Materials Science and Engineering was created in 2018. The awards go to young European materials scientists (aged less than 40 at the time of nomination) who have distinguished themselves by the significance of their work and their ability to communicate effectively whether that be in industry or academia. FEMS Master Thesis Award winner announced

On 14 July 2020, the 4th FEMS Master Thesis Competition took place virtually for the first time due to COVID-19. The FEMS Master’s Thesis award is intended to recognise the best Master’s Thesis on Materials Science and Engineering, presented in any Academic Institution from the country of any FEMS Member Society. The finalists each presented a 10-minute lecture on their chosen topics with presentations ranging from metals to polymers. Read more

Abstracts invited for FEMS Junior EUROMAT 2020

An event organised by materials societies for the materials community, FEMS Junior EUROMAT 2020 is the largest and main event focused on young materials scientists and engineers taking place on 15-19 November 2020 in Granada.

The event is organised by FEMS and has granted Sociedad Española de Materiales (SOCIEMAT) to host this event.
