Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini, Immediate Past President of the Federation of European Materials Societies (FEMS), has been awarded the esteemed Doctor Honoris Causa by the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo (UNCuyo), Argentina.
The honorary degree was presented on 18 March 2026 during a ceremony at the Faculty of Applied Sciences for Industry (FCAI) in San Rafael, Mendoza — Prof. Boccaccini’s hometown.
This honour celebrates Prof. Boccaccini’s remarkable academic achievements and his impactful contributions to materials science and engineering, particularly in biomaterials. It also reflects his long-standing support for academic and research initiatives at FCAI.
The event was historic, marking the first time the Doctor Honoris Causa distinction was awarded in San Rafael. Family, colleagues, and members of the academic community attended, making it an especially meaningful occasion.
