Thomas Duguet, 34, is a CNRS researcher at the CIRIMAT laboratory (Toulouse, France) since 2012. He is engineer from the School of Mines (Nancy, FR), where he also achieved a master’s thesis in Materials Science and Engineering, with Dr. Thierry Belmonte. In 2009, he obtained his Ph.D. from the Université de Lorraine, focused on the ‘Surfaces and Thin Films of Complex metallic Alloys’, with Dr. Vincent Fournée and Dr. Jean-Marie Dubois (Institut Jean Lamour, Nancy, FR).

"A digital Microfluidics Platform for Loop-Mediated Isothermal Amplification of DNA" was the winning thesis of the FEMS Masters Thesis Awards competition recently held in Budapest.

Beatriz Coelho from DCM - Department of Materials Science FCT / UNL, winner of the 2017 edition, Best Masters Thesis Award, awarded by the Portuguese Society of Materials during World Materials Day 2017, presented this year her master's thesis to the competition during the FEMS Junior Euromat 2018.

The Fojtik-Henglein Prize for the outstanding, recent scientific breakthrough in the field of laser synthesis and processing of colloids in liquids, named after a pair of pioneers in the field of nanoparticle and nanostructure preparation using laser technology, was first awarded at the 5th International Advanced Nanoparticles Generation Excitation by Laser in Liquids held in 3rd – 7th June 2018 in Lyon, France. The award was given to the laureate - Dr. Bilal Gökcem from the University of Duisburg/Essen - personally by Prof. Dr. Anton Fojtík, teacher at the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague and at the Institute of Engineering Physics for Biomedicine at the Moscow National Research Nuclear University and the Member of the Czech Society for New Materials and Technologies Nanosection.
