The CNRS 2018 Innovation Medal is awarded to Valérie Castellani, Thierry Chartier and Daniel Le Berre

Valérie Castellani, Thierry Chartier and Daniel Le Berre are winners of the 2018 French CNRS innovation medal. All three received this award at a ceremony on October 10 in Paris. Since 2011, the CNRS Innovation Medal has been awarded to individuals whose exceptional research has led to significant technological, economic, therapeutic and societal innovations. Of particular note for FEMS is the award to Thierry Chartier since he was also awarded the FEMS Innovation medal in 2017. Read more

Thomas Duguet, a CNRS researcher at the CIRIMAT laboratory, receives the FEMS Communication Award for Excellence in Materials Science & Engineering

Thomas Duguet, 34, is a CNRS researcher at the CIRIMAT laboratory (Toulouse, France) since 2012. He is engineer from the School of Mines (Nancy, FR), where he also achieved a master’s thesis in Materials Science and Engineering, with Dr. Thierry Belmonte. In 2009, he obtained his Ph.D. from the Université de Lorraine, focused on the ‘Surfaces and Thin Films of Complex metallic Alloys’, with Dr. Vincent Fournée and Dr. Jean-Marie Dubois (Institut Jean Lamour, Nancy, FR).

The Advanced Training Course „Nano-scale Materials“ which took place from 27th to 29th August 2018 in Dresden was once again a great success.

Beatriz Coelho presented the winning thesis of FEMS Masters Thesis Awards during Junior Euromat 2018.

"A digital Microfluidics Platform for Loop-Mediated Isothermal Amplification of DNA" was the winning thesis of the FEMS Masters Thesis Awards competition recently held in Budapest.

Beatriz Coelho from DCM - Department of Materials Science FCT / UNL, winner of the 2017 edition, Best Masters Thesis Award, awarded by the Portuguese Society of Materials during World Materials Day 2017, presented this year her master's thesis to the competition during the FEMS Junior Euromat 2018.
